Recipe Tips

A recipe is just a saved style or look based on your AutoCAD layers. Save one from a finished drawing and the next export starts where that one finished. The Drawing Recipes reference lists everything a recipe holds.

Getting Started With Recipes

  • Start from a shipped one. For a land plan, apply Land plan from FILE ▸ Apply Recipe, rename the products for the project, adjust it, then save your own.
  • Save after your first good sheet. FILE ▸ Save Recipe. Say yes when Studio offers to make it your default, and it is offered whenever a fresh CAD export opens.
  • Keep it where everyone can reach it. A recipe is one .asr file. On the office share, every machine can use the same one.

Applying One

  • It is safe to try. The whole recipe is one undo step, so Ctrl+Z puts the drawing back.
  • Read the summary. It says how many layers took a style and which were left alone. Those layers are your to-do list, and the names to add before you save the recipe again.
  • Keep hand-swapped trees. If a block is drawn more than one way, Studio asks which symbols take the recipe's choice. Leave the ones you swapped unticked and they stay as they are.
  • Make the rules yours only when you mean to. The box to add its rules to your CAD Mappings is off by default, so the rules serve this drawing alone.

What a Recipe Does Not Carry

Knowing this list saves the most head-scratching.

More Ways to Use One

  • One recipe per look. Save one from the drawing in its Realistic form and another in its Marker form, and switch between them on any sheet.
  • A quick restyle. Applying a recipe to a styled drawing replaces the styles of the layers it names and leaves the rest.
  • One layer or a whole sheet? Use a style preset or Remember Style for one treatment, and a recipe for the whole drawing.
